「小小生態科學家」之旅

石籬聖若望天主教小學10位P.5至P.6同學早前參加了明愛陳震夏郊野學園的「小小生態科學家」一日課程（由賽馬會探索科學計劃支持）。當天同學乘船前往長洲，體驗全港首個專為小學生設計的仿真淡水溪流模型，透過沉浸式探索認識河溪生態，從水質測試開始，一步步變成小小科學家！

同學親手進行水質測試、觀察浮游生物、設計河流模型及自製水黽（黽蝽）模型，從實驗中學習水流、生態與人類活動的關係，氣氛輕鬆熱鬧。活動讓學生明白保育自然的重要，培養科學探究精神，實踐「從大自然學、為大自然學」的理念。

感謝明愛陳震夏郊野學園及香港都會學校議會的協作，為同學帶來一次既有趣又具教育意義的戶外學習體驗！

"Little Ecologists" Journey
Ten P.5 and P.6 students from Shek Lei St. John's Catholic Primary School participated in the one-day "Little Ecologists" programme at Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre (supported by the Jockey Club CoolScience Project). The students travelled by ferry to Cheung Chau and experienced Hong Kong’s first simulated freshwater stream model specially designed for primary school education, engaging in an immersive exploration of river ecosystems. They started with water quality testing and gradually transformed into little scientists!

Students conducted water quality tests, observed plankton under microscopes, designed river models and created their own water strider (Gerridae) models to explore the relationship between water flow, ecology and human activities. The lively atmosphere inspired curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the day.

The activity deepened the students’ understanding of the importance of nature conservation, nurtured their scientific inquiry skills, and embodied the spirit of “learning from and for nature”. Special thanks to Caritas Chan Chun Ha Field Studies Centre and the Hong Kong Metro Schools Council for organising for their collaboration in organizing such an enjoyable and meaningful outdoor learning experience!
